Marcellus Malik Pittman released “Essential Selections, Vol. 1” on the Sound Signature label, headed by Theo Parrish. In 1998, Malik forged a working relationship with Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and Kenny “Moodymann” Dixon, collectively known as the “3 Chairs”. As production artists and selectors, they  have helped to define an integral part of the Detroit sound. Malik’s sound has been around the Detroit and surrounding areas, as well as internationally, spanning Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan and Paris.

■GENE FARRIS house set in The Lab NYC

Gene Farris is one of Chicago’s dance music icons and has spiritedly contributed to the evolving house and techno culture around the globe. His music and his djing began to get heavy notice and recognition in the golden era of the 90’s, playing warehouse parties in Chicago and eventually around the globe. He is currently one of Chicago best dj’s to date and is nominated for best Dj 2016 at the Chicago Nightlife Awards.

Their live sets combine solid House flavor with exquisite vocals, crafting a sound that has gained widespread acclaim across the global electronic music scene since their debut. Their three full album releases all received great praise from Thump, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, i-D, and ARTE as some of the best music of the year, and many tracks have been remixed by some of the most prominent artists who’ve played at VENT in the past, including Scuba, DJ Tennis, and Acid Pauli.
